By Heru Muskita

In the modern world of medicine, we used synthetic drugs or drugs from the poison of snake to heal our illness. Many of the drugs can be misused and sabotage our health rather than healing it, heroin was used to eased pain, but when misused it will damage our health both physically and mentally.

In the ancient world, our ancestor used natural herbs of mother nature to heal illness. Most of the herbs were used to relax our body, put us to rest and let our body heal itself, they also strengthen our inner organs so they can function properly. For example gingko opens the blood vessel to the brain so more blood can flow into the brain thus make us memorize better.

Aromatherapy is the used of distilled essences of plants which prompts the well being and health of our mind, our emotions, and our body. The most common way of using Aromatherapy is diffusing scents into the air. When we inhale the scents, our body will react depending on the scent used. The most common usage of aromatherapy is to relive stress. Scientists have been studying the use of aromatherapy in stress management and came down to the conclusion that Aromatherapy does relive stress.

The modern Aromatherapy usage started by a French chemist named Rene-Maurice Gattefosse. He was a scientist who was interested in healing the body using all natural essential oils. One of the most famous story was that he purposely burned his hand and then took lavender oil and rubbed it on his hand. In a matter of minutes, the burning sensation was gone. Soon enough the burn disappeared. In his researched he found that these natural essential oils not just heal wounds but they can heal the whole mind, he realized that these essential oils could change human’s emotion and put them to extreme relaxation in minutes. He named these technique AROMATHERAPY.

Now a days, we can choose how we want to used aromatherapy for our benefit, we can use aromatherapy diffuser, aromatherapy candle, essential oil burning, aromatherapy air freshener to release the scents into the air so that we can inhale it while we were doing our household chores, reading books, watching television even sleeping. We can also use aromatherapy bath to relax in our bathtub after a long day of work to relieve our stress. Another common way is to used aromatherapy oil massage to relieve muscle tension hence relieved our stress.
